Jon Bernthal and Erin Angle have been happily married since 2010, a union that was significantly influenced by country music legend Willie Nelson. The couple first met in 2000 when they were in their early 20s, and their relationship has endured various ups and downs over the years.
Born in Pittsburgh in 1976, Angle earned her nursing degree in 1998 and a master’s degree in anesthesiology in 2008. At the time she met Bernthal, she was working as a trauma nurse at Georgetown University Hospital. She later moved with him to Boston, Los Angeles, and briefly to San Francisco.
Despite their deep connection, the couple experienced a breakup. Bernthal’s efforts to win her back included reaching out to Willie Nelson, requesting a special performance of “Always on My Mind” at a concert. Nelson’s heartfelt performance helped rekindle their relationship.
Erin comes from a family of wrestlers, including her uncle, pro wrestler Kurt Angle. She and Bernthal married in September 2010 in Potomac, Md., with Bernthal’s acting teacher officiating. The couple now has three children, Henry, Billy, and Adeline, and live in Ojai, Calif., along with their beloved dogs.
Erin’s dedication as a mother was especially evident when their daughter Adeline was diagnosed with encephalitis and fell into a coma. Bernthal praised his wife’s unwavering courage and strength during this challenging time.
