Jessica Johnson, editor in chief of The Walrus, Canada’s basic curiosity journal, has left. Her tweet reads:
“I’ve had so many pleased recollections there and it’s laborious to say goodbye. However 5 years is a very long time within the lifetime of {a magazine} editor, and I’ve had a extremely good run.
“My departure comes as The Walrus celebrates its twentieth anniversary in 2023. I’m honoured to have been the steward of this iconic Canadian title. … It has been a unprecedented privilege. It has been an superior duty.”
Johnson has been working freelance since 1997. She contributed to The Globe and Mail, The New Republic, Toronto Life, Reader’s Digest, and Elle. She was additionally a columnist at The Globe and Mail.
