WSJ columnist Ruffenach retires – Speaking Biz Information

Glenn Ruffenach, who wrote the “Ask Encore” retirement column for the Wall Avenue Journal, has retired.
In his final column, Ruffenach writes, “That is my last column for the Journal. At age 70, I’m hanging up my laptop computer, because it have been, to begin a brand new job: caring full time for my spouse. I actually by no means imagined this (and neither did my spouse). However as privileges go, I can’t consider one I’d slightly have.
“The change is bittersweet. I really like journalism; I really like the written phrase. I even have cherished, for 40 years, working with my colleagues on the Journal, essentially the most gifted, supportive and honorable mates conceivable. (As an apart, my byline seems on the high of those columns. What you don’t see are the names of the Journal’s editors and their unsung efforts to form and polish my articles and all of the articles in these pages. They’re my heroes.)
“Most necessary, I thank the readers of this column. I’ve heard from hundreds of individuals, a few of whom questioned whether or not my abilities could possibly be higher employed elsewhere (say, promoting sneakers), however most of whom have been beneficiant to a fault with their feedback, insights and recommendations. I apologize to the numerous (many) readers whose questions I used to be unable to reply. I hope the columns themselves offered some helpful maps to navigate retirement’s waters.”
