Ingredients in a Pineapple Margarita Recipe
- Tequila Blanco – The best tequila for this recipe is a blanco or reposado tequila. We typically reach for a silver tequila when making margaritas.
- Pineapple Juice – Freshly squeezed or bottled both work well for this recipe.
- Orange Liqueur – Such as Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec.
- Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed is always best for homemade margaritas. It’s a key ingredient and worth the effort.
- Salt – Try our homemade margarita salt.
The best glassware to serve an on the rocks margarita in is a double old fashioned glass. These glasses are useful for dozens of cocktail recipes.

Tips for Making
- Salt Rim Ideas – We used our homemade margarita salt for this recipe. Some other fun ideas are a salt rim mixed with Tajín.
- Spicy Pineapple Margarita – To add some spice to this recipe, add some sliced jalapeño or serrano peppers to the cocktail shaker before shaking. You can also add a pepper slice to the top as garnish (this is also a good way to keep track if you aren’t making them all spicy).
- Pitcher Recipe – Increase this recipe for the number of people you are serving (for example, if you want to serve eight margaritas, increase this recipe 8x). Combine all ingredients in a pitcher (without ice) and stir to combine. You can store this in the fridge for several hours before serving. To serve, simply pour into glasses with fresh ice.
- Blender Recipe – To turn this into a blender recipe, simply blend the ingredients together with ice. Optionally, you can add some frozen pineapple chunks for a consistency closer to a smoothie. To add a tropical twist, throw in some coconut flakes.
- Add Sweetness – Because of the pineapple juice we didn’t feel agave was necessary for this recipe. However, if you’d like to add a little bit more sweetness, you can add half an ounce of agave to your cocktail shaker.
