PTI postpones today’s rally, will hold its power show on Sept 8

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to postpone its planned power show in Tarnol, Islamabad, which was originally scheduled for August 22 (today), after the Islamabad administration revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the event.

According to reports, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced the postponement, stating that it was done following the instructions of the party’s founder, Imran Khan. Despite this setback, the deputy commissioner has permitted PTI to hold a rally in Islamabad on September 8, and the NOC for this event has already been provided to PTI leaders.

The NOC for today’s gathering was revoked by the Islamabad administration in a meeting of the Intelligence Committee, led by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad. The administration cited concerns over potential protests by religious groups as the reason for not allowing the public gathering under the current circumstances.

Earlier, on July 24, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had nullified the Chief Commissioner’s order to revoke the NOC for a previous PTI gathering in the capital.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq issued a five-page written ruling, instructing the Islamabad administration to reassess PTI’s application for an NOC in accordance with the law.
