Earthquake jolts Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities

SWAT: Earthquake tremors were felt in Swat, Malakand and Shangla which created panic like situation in the residents to these areas.

The National Seismological Monitoring Center(NSMC) reported that the earthquake of magnitude 5 was recorded in the region with its epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan and the depth of the earthquake was recorded at 104 km.

The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Chitral and other Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities.

Meanwhile, Punjab cities Multan, Gujranwala, Chiniot, Rawalpindi and Sargodha also felt earthquake tremors.

The people came out of their houses in fear by reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba.

According to media reports, no reports of casualties or financial losses have been received as a result of the earthquake.

Earlier, An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude on Richter scale jolted different parts of country including  Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Thursday morning.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Swabi, Mardan, and adjoining areas, a private news channels reported.

The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.4 on the Richter scale.
