How Should You Represent Yourself on Social Media? – Ultimate Recruitment

It’s always very important to always represent yourself in a classy manner on social media, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram. Potential employers always search your name; first impressions last a lifetime. I tell people this all the time. If you portray yourself in a non-positive manner while on social media, you may not fit into a company’s corporate culture. For this reason, I have privacy control on all my social media.

Email Addresses

When searching for a job, always have a professional email address?  For example, your email address could be [email protected] or [email protected], not [email protected] or [email protected].

The New Ways Since COVID-19

A lot of companies are doing recruitment a little differently these days since Covid-19. Virtual interviews are the new way of interviewing potential hires in our current economy, for instance. When doing a virtual meeting, I suggest staying still in one place and not walking around. That type of behavior can throw your interviewer off. Dress for success even though you are in the comfort of your own home.

It might be very difficult for some people to interview this way but imagine yourself right in front of your interviewer(s), and your authentic self will come shining through.

Craft a resume for bots or artificial intelligence since many companies are using them to screen applicants. You want to get found online, so it is necessary to use the right keywords. These keywords should be from the job descriptions (not an exact copy).

Hopefully, one day soon, we will be able to get to some sense of normalcy. Be aware of your surroundings when going virtual and make sure they are neat and tidy because I notice stuff like that, and I’m sure others do as well.

I hope some of these tips help in your job search. I wish you all the very best.
