Ingredients in a Limoncello Spritz
- Limoncello – A tasty Italian lemon liqueur from Southern Italy.
- Prosecco – Or any sparkling wine.
- Sparkling Water – Use any type of club soda.
- Mint Leaves, Lemon Slice – As garnish.
The best glassware to serve a spritz in is a wine glass or a stemless wine glass.
What is Limoncello?
Limoncello is an Italian liqueur that originated from the Amalfi coast. Limoncello is made by steeping lemon peels in a neutral alcohol (usually vodka) until oil is released, then mixing the resulting yellow liquid with simple syrup.
Limoncello tastes intensely citrusy and sweet, as if you are drinking a lemon candy. It can be enjoyed in a cold shot glass or mixed into a recipe like this spritz for a lighter flavor. Even when it is served in a shot glass, Limoncello is considered a sipping drink and not typically enjoyed as a shot.
Instructions
Gather your ingredients and fill a wine glass with ice.
Measure and pour in the Limoncello, Prosecco and soda water into the glass.
Stir gently to mix and garnish with mint leaves and a lemon.
