Sindh government launches interest-free solar panel loans

The Sindh government has launched a new initiative aimed at improving energy access for the middle class by offering interest-free loans for installing solar systems.

Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced this initiative during a recent media briefing at his residence, where he also extended Eid greetings.

Shah underscored the government’s commitment to addressing local challenges through targeted budget allocations. He highlighted the ongoing electricity shortages affecting over 200,000 households in Sindh.

To tackle this issue, the government plans to electrify 500,000 households annually by providing solar systems capable of powering essentials like a fan and three bulbs to those most in need.

Under the initiative, individuals interested in installing solar systems independently can access interest-free loans, with the government covering the loan interest.

Nasir Hussain Shah further revealed plans to construct two grid stations in each district across Sindh, aimed at bolstering the region’s energy infrastructure.

This initiative is set to enhance energy access and promote sustainable energy solutions throughout the province.
