Growing up in Queens, New York, Eve developed a love for nature and animals, exploring nearby Forest Park despite its proximity to busy Queens Boulevard. She was 12 when Joy, then a recently divorced high school English teacher, began her stand-up comedy career. Joy’s transition into comedy was driven by financial necessity after her divorce in 1981.
Eve was also 12 when Joy met her now-husband, Steve Janowitz, whom she married in 2011 after nearly three decades together. Eve and Joy have always lived close to each other, often residing in the same New York City apartment building and spending time together shopping or getting facials. In 2015, Joy and Janowitz bought a home in Sag Harbor, where Eve and her family also reside.
Eve, who initially worked in television production, found her true passion in ceramics. She studied at the Studio Art Center International in Florence and later at Sheridan College in Canada, where she won the best in show award at her 2004 graduate show. By 2016, she became the gallery director at Celadon Clay Art Gallery in Bridgehampton.
Married to physician assistant Alphonso Anthony Scotti since 2007, Eve became a mother in 2011. Joy often shares her pride in her grandson Luca, whom she describes as brilliant. Eve also dotes on her dog, Jack, frequently sharing photos of him on social media. Eve’s life and career reflect her deep connection to her family and her artistic pursuits.
