Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper-batsman from Pakistan, has been appointed as the skipper of the Vancouver Knights for the upcoming Global T20 Canada 2024 season.

In the tournament, which is set to take place from July 25 to August 11, Babar Azam, who leads Pakistan in limited-overs cricket, will be playing under Rizwan’s captaincy.

“The Vancouver Knights have chosen their captain for GT20 Season 4: Sir Muhammad Rizwan. With his mighty batting skills and sharp wicketkeeping, he’s ready to lead our charge to victory. Prepare for battle, Knights!,” announced the franchise.

Notably, the event will feature seven prominent Pakistani players, including Babar, Rizwan, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Nawaz.

The Vancouver Knights’ roster will include Babar, Asif, Amir, and Rizwan. Meanwhile, Shaheen and Nawaz will play for the Toronto Nationals, and Iftikhar is set to join the Bangla Tigers Mississauga.

Additionally, the league will host a lineup of international stars like Mohammad Nabi, Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, David Wiese, Hazratullah Zazai, David Warner, and Carlos Brathwaite.

The inaugural season of the league in 2018 saw the Vancouver Knights as champions, while the Winnipeg Hawks claimed the title in 2019.

The Montreal Tigers are the current champions of GT20 Canada, having secured the trophy in 2023 by defeating the Knights in the championship match.
