Shiraz Uppal recently addressed a controversy surrounding his comments about mentoring Atif Aslam and Aima Baig. Speaking on actor-host Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Uppal clarified that he provided guidance to top performers like Atif Aslam and Aima Baig to refine their vocal skills and tonality, evaluating their potential as singers.

During a chat show, Uppal clarified the misunderstanding, stating, “I never said that I taught them how to sing; people misunderstood my remarks. They are naturally talented singers.” He further explained, “As a music producer and singer, I understand the nuances of vocal expression needed for my compositions. My role was to guide them on pronunciation, tone, and expression, not to mentor them in singing from scratch.”

Earlier, Uppal had mentioned, “When I worked with Aima on ‘Kalabaaz Dil,’ she initially sang with a Western style. I coached her to adapt to the required tonality, and she quickly grasped it.” Reflecting on Atif Aslam’s development, he noted, “Atif had a powerful voice but needed help expressing emotions in his singing, especially in romantic songs. I advised him on how to deliver words with the right emotional depth, and he successfully incorporated that advice.”
