Lindsey Horan, captain of the United States women’s national soccer team, found her lifelong teammate off the field in her fiancé, Tyler Heaps. The couple first met while Horan was playing for the Portland Thorns, and Heaps was working in analytics for the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Their friendship blossomed into a relationship, leading to their engagement in June 2023. Horan shared the joyous news on Instagram, with photos capturing the moment Heaps proposed, including a picturesque backdrop and her sparkling engagement ring.
Heaps, originally from St. Paul, Minn., has a strong soccer background, playing the sport throughout high school and college. He earned a degree in computational mathematics from Augsburg University and has spent most of his professional career in the soccer industry. He currently works in recruitment and insights for the youth soccer academy Right to Dream.
The couple met through their work with the U.S. Soccer Federation, where Heaps eventually became involved in training sessions. Their bond deepened over shared interests, particularly their mutual love for North London. Despite the challenges of long-distance dating, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, their relationship flourished.
