Bangladesh defeats Pakistan to achieve first-ever Test match win
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The victory was powered by a remarkable performance from the Bangladeshi bowlers, who dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup on the fifth day of play.
After dismissing Pakistan for 146 in their second innings, Bangladesh’s openers, Zakir Hasan (15*) and Shadman Islam (19*), comfortably chased down the 30-run target set by Pakistan.
The duo achieved the victory in just 6.3 overs, sealing the match in Bangladesh’s favor.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan resumed their second innings at 23-1, but their batsmen struggled against a relentless Bangladeshi attack.
Key players like Shan Masood (14), Babar Azam (22), and Abdullah Shafique (37) fell cheaply, with only Mohammad Rizwan showing resistance with a gritty 51. However, Rizwan’s dismissal by Mehidy Hasan ended Pakistan’s hopes of setting a more challenging target.
The remaining Pakistani batsmen offered little resistance, and the team was bowled out for 146. Bangladesh’s victory in this Test match marks a significant milestone in their cricketing history, showcasing their growing prowess in the longest format of the game.
