Seinfeld star Michael Richards opens up about shocking racist rant, claims he’s changed
Actor Michael Richards is promoting his new memoir “Entrances and Exits” and reflecting on a controversial incident from 2006.
According to TMZ, who first reported the incident, Richards launched into a racist rant using the N-word multiple times at the Laugh Factory comedy club in Los Angeles. The rant was directed at a Black audience member who was heckling him.
In an interview on “Today”, Richards spoke with Hoda Kotb about the incident. Kotb asked how he’s different now and Richards said he’s done “a lot of changing and growing” since then. He acknowledged he still gets angry “but just less so.” Richards also said he has “forgiven himself.”
Kotb asked if he had apologized and Richards said yes, adding that he feels he’s “done enough to move past it and resurface.”
Jerry Seinfeld, Richards’ former co-star on “Seinfeld,” wrote the foreword to Richards’ book.
