Justice Shafi Siddiqui appointed as permanent Chief Justice of SHC

KARACHI: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has approved the permanent appointment of Acting Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui.

Justice Shafi Siddiqui will be the 27th Chief Justice of Sindh High Court.

Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui was born on 12th August 1965, obtained his LLB degree after B.S. and started his career in 1992 as an Advocate Subordinate Courts.

Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui was enrolled as a High Court Advocate in 1994 and enrolled as an Advocate in the Supreme Court in 2008.

He was sworn in as a judge of the Sindh High Court in 2012, while former Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi was serving as Acting Chief Justice since his appointment to the Supreme Court.

Now Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui will take oath as the 27th Chief Justice of Sindh High Court after the approval of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan and the Parliamentary Committee.

Justice Shafi Siddiqui as a judge of Sindh High Court has delivered judgments in 4205 cases so far, more than 1000 cases have been published in various law journals.

Justice Shafi Siddiqui’s judgments include Constitutional, Taxation, Customs and High Court Appeals.

Earlier,  Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) approved Justice Aalia Neelum as the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court(LHC).

A meeting of the Judicial Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. In the meeting, Justice Aalia Neelum was nominated as Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
